Τα γκανγκστερικά φιλμ υπάρχουν στο προσκήνιο από τις πρώτες σχεδόν ημέρες της παγκόσμιας κινηματογραφικής ιστορίας και πρόκειται για ένα είδος που υποστηρίζει στους κόλπους του, τόσο τις straight ιστορίες εγκλημάτων, αλλά οποιοδήποτε flipside τις διακωμωδεί (βλέπε Pulp Fiction).
