O Mάρτιν Σκορσέζε επιλέγει 28 ταινίες για τη Νέα Υόρκη

Το Roxy Cinema αποφάσισε να κάνει ένα κινηματογραφικό αφιέρωμα στη Νέα Υόρκη με τίτλο «Living, Breathing New York» και ζήτησε από κάποιον ειδικό να επιλέξει ταινίες που αναβλύζουν την διάσημη πόλη.

Δεν θα μπορούσε να είναι άλλος αυτός από τον Μάρτιν Σκορσέζε. Ο δημιουργός που την έχει σπουδάσει αυτή την πόλη από κάθε άποψη, νιώθει παιδί της και μαζί έχει τόση συσσωρευμένη σινεφιλική σοφία δεκαετιών για το αμερικανικό σινεμά και πως να εντάξει κανείς την πόλη-μύθο στο σκιαγράφημά του.

Ο Σκορσέζε επέλεξε να μην βάλει κάποιο δικό του φιλμ (Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Bringing Out the Dead, and The Wolf of Wall Street), σε δύο από αυτά σχολίασε κιόλας, ενώ τοπόθέτησε τρία των αδερφών Σάφντι, μια απόδειξη ότι τους θεωρεί πνευματικά παιδιά του.
